Farm to School Summit Fun

As part of the 2015 Farm to School Summit, I coordinated and led a workshop about using reclaimed materials to build raised beds for school gardens. The project was a collaboration between Athens Land Trust, The Materials Reuse Program and Good Roots.

Together with the help of Farm to School Summit participants, we built and planted the a innovative herb garden at the Clarke County School Nutrition Office. The herbs will be used in school meals to help reduce the use of salt to flavor school meals. The garden is the first of its kind in the state of Georgia and is named Paradise Herb Garden.

If you would like to learn more about starting a garden, check out any of the links to the organizations mention in the first paragraph by clicking on the underlined names of each organization of visit the University of Georgia Extension Office Website.
